  1. Hello Everyone
My name is Fatima Coremin; I am 26 years old and a business major. I am happily married and have two gorgeous girls, Samantha 4 and Francesca 2. My kids are the driving force behind my return to college, because I want to give them the head start I did not have. On the professional side I am an Emergency Medical Technician. I have worked in the field for the past five years. While been an EMT is a very rewarding career I cannot say the same about the pay. Therefore I am here to better myself, my future and that of my kids.

  2. Fatima,
Way to go! I love your outlook. Your kids are a good reason to come back to school, as well as to better yourself. I know that it will be tough working fulltime and going to school, so let me know if I can help at all. On those long days or nights that you spend studying, just remember that school will not be forever.

  16. Hello Everyone,

My Name is Wendy Juarez I am 26 years old from Clifton. One of the things I enjoy doing is reading a good book, one of my favorite authors is Junot Diaz, I also like traveling although this year has been a little hard for myself and friends to take some time off our schedule and with the economy and all it has not really been an option. Am currently pursuing a major in Accounting, prior to transferring to PCC I went to Berkeley College for a major in Human Resources Management. I was there for more than a year but due to tuition being very expensive I decided to transfer to a Community College to obtain an associates degree in Accounting and continue my studies at Rutgers. During past years I have put my job first and left school as a second option, but realized that without a degree there is no future. This time I have set goals for myself, and prioritized what is important, completing my Associates Degree in Accounting and transferring to a University is what I am determined to do.

  18. Hi Ilda, I think is really great that you want to pursue a career in nursing, especially because nursing is more of a calling than career choice. Also I see you already work for St. Joseph’s Hospital so by the time you graduate you will already have plenty of experience in the medical field which will give you an advantage for future employment.

  19. Hello Wendy, I see we have several things in common. I too love to read and now that you recommend Junot Diaz I’m going to have to read “The brief wondrous life of Oscar Wao.” One of my favorite authors is Deepak Chopra, I highly recommend his books especially Buddha. It is a very inspiration novel. In addition traveling is another of the things that I love, but just like you do not get to do that often. This summer however I had the opportunity to travel to Mexico City and Puerto Escondido. Let me tell you I loved it and plan on going back as soon as possible. Also I am sure we will be seeing a lot of each other because we both have to take accounting classes amongst others.

  20. Hello Everyone,
My name is Sherry Torres and I am 30 years old. I have two beautiful boys who I love dearly, ages nine and ten. They are the reason why I came back to college, to better my future and that of my kids. I work full time in the Law Firm of Bronson & Migliaccio LLP as a legal collector managing accounts receivable. I've worked in this field for the past eight years, but it's not the field I want to continue. I realized without a degree there is no future, and I want to have and give my kids everything that I didn't have. I'm majoring in Psychology because I want to help patrons in need and help guide them to the correct path in life. My goal is to complete two years in PCCC and transfer my credits and complete my major in William Paterson University.

Hi Fati, Is good to see that we have many things in common too, You will love “The brief and wondrous life of Oscar Wao” I am always looking for new books to read so I will definitely read Buddha by Deepak Chopra. I also wanted to congratulate you on pursuing a career to better yourself as well as the lives of your children, I admire people like you, am sure you will do great and accomplish your dreams, I would like to add that you remind me of my sister, she has two kids as well and has worked hard to accomplish her dream of being an Accountant, she said it was not easy but looking at her children every night after returning back from school gave her the strength to continue with her studies. She is currently on her last semester at Montclair for an Accounting major. I would also say her perseverance inspired me to return to school and continue with my major.

  30. Nicole, I think that the field of criminal justice is a really interesting and challenging choice; especially because there are so few women in it. I do not know what part of the field you plan to pursue, but my personal opinion is that the forensic side is the most interesting. Good luck.

It seems as thou we have alot in common. I love reading and I also put my employment first then school. We're both determined to get this degree and that's cool. I believe that you are determined and will get that degree because your age and experience in the work field will play a big part on helping you make that happen. Good Luck!

  33. Hi Fatima,
I found your bio intriguing because we're both mom's who want to give our kids what we didn't have. I felt awkward coming back to school at the age of 30 mother of 2 with a load of responsibilites. Reading everyone's bio made me realize, that we all have the same interest. I wish you the best of luck. You've done a great job so far and I know that the possibilities for achieving your success will be endless.

  38. Hi Hanif,
Joining the Army was definitely the hardest decision I had to make, because I didn’t know what to expect from it. I don’t know what made me join the army to begin with but I can say that I don’t regret it at all. I’m actually even thinking about singing up again.

  39. Hi Sandra,
From what I read, we have a lot of things in common. I love to cook, I have a daughter and of course our last names are the same. I love fashion and maybe like you, I wouldn't want to major in that field because I just cannot stay away from the mall and shopping. Staying in style is a must!

  41. Andeina,
I admire your determination and drive. I remember going to school myself and balancing my new baby. It is definitely challenging, but very worth it in the long run. After reading all of the bio’s here I see that there are a lot of working parents who are students. You have a great support system in this class. Keep at it and before you know it you will move on to something bigger and better that will change your life for the better.

    Jasmin,
I see you also have a daughter. It looks like a lot of you can be a great support system for one another in this class. I am so happy to meet you and helping you fulfill all of your dreams.

Sulai- My father in-law used to work for AT&T. It isn’t the same company now as it was then. I see you have a daughter. You will find a lot of support here in the class for working parents that are students. I also want to personally thank you for the sacrifices that you have made to be in the army. I admire anyone who takes that step.

    Nicole,
Like so many other working students with children, I admire you and your determination to better yourself. I also admire the fact that you want a career change and are willing to do something about that.

    Hanif,
Do you have three children or three siblings? My husband loves boxing and extreme sports. Where do you want to go to college after PCCC? What teams do you follow?

    Wendy,
I love reading too. I try and read every night and enjoy the break from reality. As for Rutgers, I went there and thought that it was a great experience and a great education. I also think that in the poor economy that we are in that community colleges are definitely the way to go for your general education requirements.

    Ilda,
Wow, you do have an interesting bio. Your grandchildren have a wonderful role model, as does everyone in this class. You are a testament that it is never too late to get a degree and to make a change. I wish you the best of luck and look forward to helping you achieve your goals.

    Sherry,
Did you notice that Andreina also works in a law firm? I admire your foresight to see that you want to go into a different field and that you see education as a way to do that. I also like to see that you want to help others. I find that an admirable trait. I look forward to working with you his semester.

    Ray,
I agree sometimes that people with degrees get more respect and usually get better paying jobs. I admit, I think highly of all the students that try hard in class to better themselves. Those are two good reasons to stay in school and get that degree. It is a pleasure to work with you and I look forward to reading your work.

    Karen,
It is a wonderful thing to help others. I think that I have the best job in the world. I love helping others to read and write so that they can be successful. I admire that you also want to pursue an occupation where helping others comes is foremost. I also would love to know what made you move back to NJ?

    Jessica,
I agree with your quote that “The more you know the further you get in life”. I would not have the job I have today without all of my education. Education opens up doors that would be closed otherwise. Keep at it and I look forward to working with you.

    Sandra,
Have you ever considered any of the culinary classes at the college? I think that you are the first cook that I have met as a student. What is one of your favorite dishes? What kind of restaurant do you want to open up?
